Coronavirus Statement

16 March 2020 – PRESS RELEASE

FRIENDS OF THE ELDERLY CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT

Following the recent Coronavirus outbreak, Friends of the Elderly are doing all that we can to protect against COVID-19 within our homes and services.Friends of the Elderly is experienced in reducing the spread of infections, such as seasonal flu and norovirus in our homes and services. And we follow strict protocols to avoid residents, service users, staff and volunteers becoming unwell. We will continue to follow these strict processes.

Due to the continuing Coronavirus outbreak and thinking about the safety of our residents and staff, our care homes are currently closed to all but essential visitors. We will be reviewing this decision as new information from various government agencies becomes available.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we appreciate that of course people will want to visit their relatives and friends. However, it is a decision we have made with our residents’ best interests in mind. We are reviewing and will be deploying in due course, various methods through which residents can keep in touch with their family and friends, including the use of technology.

We want to thank our residents, families, staff, and volunteers for their understanding during this unprecedented and difficult time.
