The Old Vicarage, Oxfordshire - Residential, nursing and dementia care home
Purpose-built in extensive gardens adjacent to Moulsford village’s cricket ground, The Old Vicarage is dual registered to provide nursing and residential care for 40 residents and can also offer more specialised support for 10 people with dementia in The Court, a separate wing with specialist care staff. Located four miles from Wallingford, South Oxfordshire and near to the Berkshire Downs, the home was donated to Friends of the Elderly in 1961 by the late Captain Leopold Lonsdale. Set around central courtyards, The Old Vicarage is built to a high specification and luxuriously appointed and has a very welcoming feel.

Feel at home
Each of our bed-sitting rooms is fully furnished and has en-suite bathrooms. Every room is fitted with a television point and telephone socket, giving additional privacy and choice.
Fresh food choices
All food is freshly prepared by our cooks, and residents can choose from our varied menus for their main meal at lunchtime, plus a hot supper in the evening. All meals are served in the elegant dining room or, if the resident prefers, in their own room.
Activities and interests
The Old Vicarage features an elegantly furnished drawing room and an adjoining television room. Our Activities Organiser encourages residents to use the dedicated hobbies room and become involved in the many social activities on offer; exercise classes, competitions, quizzes and crafts. We have a beauty room where local hairdressers, manicurists and chiropodists visit regularly.
Residents are welcome to take an interest in the garden, to have their own plot or help with flowers for the house. Weekly church services are conducted by local clergy in the chapel. Our local volunteer support group organises many events including social gatherings and visits to places of interest.
Excellent staff care
Our professional staff all attend regular training to ensure that they provide an excellent standard of care. Staff assist with bathing, dressing and all the activities of daily life, as required. A call system operates in all rooms and communal areas, giving residents peace of mind that they can summon help at any time, day or night. As a dual registered home, 24 hour nursing care is provided to those who need this and other medical services are provided by a local GP, who also provides emergency cover.
