Coronavirus Update

Care Homes and Services closed to all visitors but essential visitors for the next month.

Updated : 01 April 2020

Following the recent Coronavirus outbreak, Friends of the Elderly are doing all that we can to protect against COVID-19 within our homes and services.

Friends of the Elderly is experienced in reducing the spread of infections, such as seasonal flu and norovirus in our homes and services. And we follow strict protocols to avoid residents, service users, staff and volunteers becoming unwell. We will continue to follow these strict processes.

Due to the continuing Coronavirus outbreak and thinking about the safety of our residents and staff, our care homes are currently closed to all but essential visitors. We will be reviewing this decision as new information from various government agencies becomes available.

On the 23 March, following new UK Government guidance, we took the decision to close our day centres until further notice, in order to protect the people we support.

These are not decisions we have taken lightly. However, they are decisions we have taken with our residents and service users’ best interests in mind.

We want to thank our residents, the people we support, families, staff, and volunteers for their understanding during this unprecedented and difficult time.
