About Retired Nurses National Home

Category: Respite care

Originally built for the benefit of the retired nursing community, the Retired Nurses National Home (RNNH) welcomes everyone but retains a strong link to its heritage.

Respite care for the elderly is designed to provide a temporary haven for older people in order to give their carer a much-needed break. It also gives the person receiving care a chance to socialise in our home, meet and make new friends, enjoy some fresh experiences, and just benefit from being cared for by a compassionate team in a warm environment.

This stunning care home in Bournemouth is set amongst beautiful gardens, which most of the rooms overlook. Friends and family are always welcome to visit – and can share in the joy of a meal, sitting in the gardens or joining in with one of our activities.

From housekeeping to the care and management teams, all our staff are trained to the highest standard. We create a personalised care plan for each of our residents, whether they are staying for a short respite break or longer ensuring that our staff are able to meet everyone’s personal needs.

Alan Johnson

Alan Johnston, Manager

“I have worked in the care industry for 33 years and have been managing homes for 29 of those. I have worked in all areas of the care home from housekeeping to junior management – this is something I feel helps make me a good manager as I understand what is expected at every level.

My vision for the Retired Nurses National Home is to build on our current ‘Good’ CQC rating and continue to work to make this a homely, happy, caring and welcoming place to live and work.

I really enjoy making residents smile and listening to their life experiences. I am motivated by supporting older people who need our care and to show them the compassion and empathy that they deserve.”

Respite care during Covid- Get Two Weeks FREE

Due to the current legislation, our newest respite care residents will have to self-isolate for the first 2 weeks of their stay, only being able to integrate with the other residents after that.

With this in mind, we are currently offering 2 weeks of respite care at no extra cost, when you book 2 weeks of respite care from any of our care homes. Meaning that people staying with us for respite care can experience every aspect of living in our care homes, and enjoy all the activities and facilities our homes have to offer.

If you or your loved one only wanted to stay for a portion of the extra free weeks, that’s fine too.
