I am a Chartered Construction Manager with extensive experience in estate management, development and maintenance in the health and residential care sector. My formative experience was gained in a complex London NHS portfolio, followed by a move to the commercial sector in the form of building services and infrastructure work with Cellnet (O2) and BT Property. I joined Friends of the Elderly in 2002 to pick up the health theme again and work with the organisation’s diverse and challenging property portfolio.
What gets me out of bed in the morning is seeing the tangible results of the work my team does and the positive impact this has for our service users. When I am in my 80s I am sure I will still enjoy my passion for flying although I suspect I might be relegated to being a passenger rather than the pilot. If I could give one piece of advice to my younger self, it would be to find a less conventional route for life’s journey with plenty of sabbaticals for development and travel.
