Unusual 40th Birthday Celebrations
Jon Bramwell chose to celebrate his 40th birthday by cycling from Pavenham in Bedfordshire to Padstow in Cornwall in just three days! Jon decided to undertake the challenge for the charity to raise funds after hearing the BBC Radio 4 Appeal.
Jon said "The Appeal made me think of how short of money my grandparents must have been relying on the state pension...I do hope that my sponsors donations will help other elderly people in some small way. "
Ceili raises £630 for Friends of the Elderly
An energetic evening of Irish dancing organised by Pat O’Sullivan at St Josephs Social Club on 22nd December, raised this impressive amount of money. The dancers gave generous donations and bought raffle tickets in between dancing the Corofin plain set and the-Claddah set. Shortly after midnight, Pat invited people to pull raffle tickets out of a hat, to see who had won the fabulous donated prizes. A few days later, Pat presented Vivienne Clarke of Friends of the Elderly with a cheque for £630.
This wonderful evening of fun will help Friends of the Elderly look after vulnerable older people, who need our help. Well done Pat!
