Friends of the Elderly Telebefriending
Friends of the Elderly’s Telebefriending Service recruits and manages a team of volunteers who befriend older people over the phone.
The service is designed to reduce the feelings of isolation, loneliness and depression experienced by those we support, thus improving their quality of life and well being. We match volunteers to older people based on shared interests and compatibility and our telebefrienders then make regular telephone calls to their clients, building a relationship based on friendship and trust.
Our Telebefriending Service was established in 2007 and is currently only available to beneficiaries of Friends of the Elderly's Welfare and Grant Giving Service.
