Friends of the Elderly's day clubs promote social inclusion. This is vital to older people’s well-being.
Our day clubs provide ongoing support from caring staff and a wide range of activities from arts & crafts, exercises and card games to reminiscence activities and quizzes.
Members enjoy a freshly cooked meal and make new friendships. A visit to the club can be of great comfort and support, providing something to look forward to, particularly for those who are socially isolated. The support given by the staff helps older people gain a better quality of life and promotes their independence.
“I look forward to my club visits. It gets me out of the house and a chance to meet up with friends. The support I get is fantastic – a true life-line!”
Apart from the direct benefits to the older person, day club attendance also gives essential respite to their carers.
Some of our day clubs are specifically for people with dementia (see our Service Selector).
