Set in the small village of Copford, New Copford Place is a purpose built residential home set in mature gardens with an ornamental pond and delightful sitting areas in a tranquil setting for all to enjoy.
Located just off the A12 and around 50 miles from London, Copford is approximately four miles from Colchester and has good transport connections. The home is arranged around an attractive central courtyard. All rooms are on the ground floor ensuring ease and accessibility for residents.
Feel at home
There are 27 spacious and well furnished bed sitting rooms available, many of which have ensuite facilities. Every room is provided with a TV point, and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with small items of furniture, pictures and photographs to make them feel at home. Communal rooms include three pleasant lounges and a light and airy dining room, and the pretty central courtyard offers a sheltered outdoor space for residents to relax in.
Fresh food choices
All food is freshly prepared by our cooks, and residents can choose from our varied menus for their main meal at lunchtime, plus a hot supper in the evening. All meals are served in the pleasant dining room, or if the resident prefers, in their own room. Residents may request refreshments and snacks at any time.
Individual care plans
Whenever a new resident joins us, we prepare an individual care plan with them and their relatives, to encourage independence and inclusion. The plan covers personal care, diet, activities and hobbies, and all aspects of how we can make their stay enjoyable and comfortable.
Excellent staff care
Our professional staff all attend regular training to ensure that they provide an excellent standard of care. Staff assist with bathing, dressing and all the activities of daily life, as required. A call system operates in all rooms and communal areas, giving residents peace of mind that they can summon help at any time, day or night. Routine medical services are provided by a local GP, who also provides emergency cover.
Activities and interests
New Copford Place has three communal lounges for residents to enjoy. Two of these have televisions, and the third is used for activities. An Activities Organiser encourages residents to become involved in the many social activities on offer, which include film afternoons, cookery, themed days and arts and crafts. A local hairdresser visits twice a fortnight. The home’s minibus is regularly used for trips to the local shops and places of interest. A Church of England service is conducted on the first Saturday of every month, to which all residents are warmly invited.
Warm, friendly atmosphere
Friends of the Elderly’s homes provide a warm, friendly atmosphere and a truly caring environment. Family and friends are always welcome, and can stay for lunch or dinner if they wish. There is a happy community spirit enhanced by regular get-togethers for pre-lunch drinks and other events. In the warmer weather, the garden is well used and popular with residents. Our residents are treated with dignity and friendly courtesy, and we never forget that this is their home.
