Triangle Day Care Wallington, located on Stanley Park Road, has launched a specific session for those living with early onset dementia. Tuesday Club at the service provides a positive and vibrant environment where people with early onset dementia can meet others in a similar situation and get involved in a wide range of activities.
Early onset dementia affects people under the age of 65 and presents itself in the form of memory issues that cause problems in day to day life, changes in mood, personality and behaviour and confusion. Dementia is a degenerative disease which in time becomes worse and symptoms increase in severity. Tuesday Club at Triangle Wallington not only provides a safe and welcoming environment for those living with early onset dementia, but it also allows carers of those people peace of mind that they are being well cared for by a team that understands the illness.
Triangle Wallington is run by Triangle Community Services, a subsidiary organisation of registered charity Friends of the Elderly. The service is staffed by a highly-trained team supported by a group of caring volunteers.
Wendy Carpenter, Manager of Triangle Wallington, said: “Our Tuesday Club is friendly and engaging with each session offering a mix of activities from walking and gardening to an in-house cinema and local outings. We ask the service users what activities they would like to do based on their interests and use this feedback to plan our sessions.”
