The team from Triangle Home Care Thurrock took a group of service users for a day trip to Southend earlier this month. The group had a fantastic day – they went on a train to the end of the pier for a cup of tea then had fish and chips outside enjoying the sea air. It was a real treat day as for pudding the group enjoyed ice cream and doughnuts too!
Some of the service users ended the day playing in the water fountains – having a real laugh. Gina spent the day with a big smile on her face and said: “I have had a wonderful time” – whilst emptying water out of her shoe after being in the fountains!
Olive said: “I had a lovely day considering I didn’t feel all that up for it in the morning. It really was the best day I’ve had for a long time – I’m so grateful to the team for all their hard work getting us out.”
One of the service users celebrated their birthday on the day of the trip. Joyce said: “I have had the best time – I can’t think of a better way to enjoy my birthday.” She was treated to a chorus of ‘happy birthday’ from the group and received a card and some fudge to enjoy.
Mandy Lennox, Manager of Triangle Home Care Thurrock, said: “It was a great day. We spent five hours in Southend and the weather was good – not too hot and thankfully no rain. It was wonderful to see the smiles on the service users’ faces. Each and every one had a great day. Seeing them in the water fountains and hearing them laugh and smile was fantastic. Even those who did not go in the fountains were laughing and smiling.”
