Our care home in Alton, The Lawn, opened its doors to the local community on Friday 16 June to mark Care Home Open Day.
Staff, volunteers and residents invited guests to join them for activities themed around one of Hampshire’s most famous past residents, Jane Austen; 2017 is the bicentenary of the novelist’s death.
Local artist Maggie Cole, who has previously painted views of Jane Austen’s house, gave a landscape painting demonstration. Students from nearby Eggar’s School put on a drama performance of Jane Austen’s Guide to Dating and pianist Kevin Jacot played a medley of tunes on the theme of friendship, which was the official theme of Care Home Open Day 2017.
This special event is part of our ongoing commitment to providing meaningful activities, encouraging friendships across the generations and placing our care homes at the heart of our local communities.
