Our Sherwood House care home welcomed in the local community for an afternoon of seaside fun on Friday 16 June to mark Care Home Open Day.
Staff, volunteers and residents challenged guests to grab their buckets and spades and join them for fish and chips on a specially constructed, sandy ‘beach’ in their grounds. There were deck chairs, a paddling pool, singalongs of favourite seaside holiday tunes, classic games and much more. Importantly, there were also opportunities to be shown around the home and to find out about working or volunteering there.
This special event was part of our ongoing commitment to providing meaningful activities, encouraging friendships across the generations and placing our care homes at the heart of their local communities. It also helped mark support of Care Home Open Day, an annual initiative which sees thousands of care homes across the country open their doors to the public to showcase the excellent services being provided by dedicated teams of staff.
Andrea Downs, General Manager of Sherwood House care home says: “A great time was had by all: the weather was glorious and it was a very rewarding day.”
