Friends of the Elderly Telebefriending
Friends of the Elderly’s Telebefriending Service recruits and manages a team of volunteers who telephone older people from their own homes.
It aims to improve the quality of life of older people by reducing their feelings of isolation and loneliness. We achieve this through our telebefrienders, who provide older people with regular telephone contact and the opportunity to build a relationship based on friendship.
Friends of the Elderly’s Telebefriending Service was established in 2007 as a means of extending the support offered to our Friends of the Elderly Welfare and Grants Giving Service beneficiaries.
The service matches volunteers to older people based on shared interests and compatibility, in the hope that the regular telephone contact will build a relationship based on friendship, which the Friends of the Elderly Telebefriending Manger supervises.
