Wyre Valley Day Club, Kidderminster

Running since 2004, Friends of the Elderly's Wyre Valley Day Club offers person-centred care and support to people over 60 who live in the Kidderminster area and who have mild to moderate dementia.  The Club caters for up to 13 people from 10.00am to 3.30pm each weekday.  The service provides invaluable respite to carers. A Friends of the Elderly owned minibus provides transport for those who need it.

The club offers a wide range of facilities and activities, including entertainment throughout the year and interactive events such as bingo, quizzes, exercise and reminiscence activities. Morning coffee, lunch with a choice of menu, and afternoon tea are provided. We work closely with many local, statutory and voluntary organisations.  The caring support of the staff can improve an older person’s well-being enormously and adds to their quality of life.

“The devoted work you do in caring not only helps the people you care for, but is a fantastic help for carers to ensure we get time to ourselves so that we can have the commitment and energy we need to keep us going. Knowing my wife is well cared for when she attends your club is an enormous source of comfort.”

The club is jointly funded by Friends of the Elderly and Worcestershire County Council.

Club Member Criteria  -  50% of the members need to be diagnosed with mild to moderate dementia and the other 50% must be known to the Mental Health Team.
