Woodcote Grove and Selkirk Wing, Coulsdon - Residential care home and nursing home

Woodcote Grove House is a Grade II listed Georgian building and is registered to provide residential care for 30 people. Attached is Selkirk Nursing Wing, a self-contained, dedicated unit for 20 people who require nursing care. Elegantly appointed throughout, this former home of the Campbell-Johnston family shares the truly beautiful grounds of nearby Orford House and is surrounded by woods and fields as well as an adjacent golf course. The house has been extended sympathetically to meet today’s needs, retaining many of its original features, staircase and marble fireplaces.

If they are able to do so, residents are encouraged to visit the nearby shops and facilities at The Mount from where there are buses to Croydon or Purley. Regular transport is also available from the home for local shopping.

Feel at home

Each of our comfortable bed-sitting rooms in Woodcote Grove House is fully furnished and has en-suite wash-basins and WCs. The home and the Nursing Wing has a good range of bathrooms with assisted baths and showers to facilitate bathing for the frail or disabled.  Every room is fitted with a television point and telephone socket, giving additional privacy and choice.

Fresh food choices

All food is freshly prepared by our cooks, and residents can choose from our varied menus for their main meal at lunchtime, plus a hot supper in the evening. All meals are served in the elegant dining room or, if the resident prefers, in their own room.

Activities and interests

Woodcote Grove House features two elegantly furnished drawing rooms. Our Activities Organiser encourages residents to become involved in the many social activities on offer; exercise classes, competitions, quizzes and crafts. We have a beauty room where local hairdressers, manicurists and chiropodists visit regularly. Residents are welcome to take an interest in the garden or help with flowers for the house. Weekly church services are conducted by local clergy in the chapel and communion is also offered in resident’s own rooms. Our local volunteer support group organises many events including sherry parties, social gatherings and visits to places of interest which all help establish roots in the local community. They also run a mobile shop and visit residents on a regular basis.

Excellent staff care

Our professional staff all attend regular training to ensure that they provide an excellent standard of care. Staff assist with bathing, dressing and all the activities of daily life, as required. A call system operates in all rooms and communal areas, giving residents peace of mind that they can summon help at any time, day or night. In the Nursing Wing, 24 hour nursing care is provided. Other medical services are provided by a local GP, who also provides emergency cover.
