Visiting befriending

Friendship is a precious commodity that can seem scarce as we get older, especially if you’re living alone.

Our visiting befriending service can step in when family or friends are not around. It is a high quality volunteer home visiting service ideally for people who live alone in the Walton-on-Thames, Hersham, Woking, Weybridge or Malvern areas. It is ideally suited to people over 60 who have little contact from family and friends.

A visit from a friend

Knowing that a friend is popping round for a chat in a day or two can make a huge difference.

Just like a true friend, our volunteer visitors will always take time to listen to you and share life’s ups and downs.

Keeping active

As your friendship with our volunteer visitor grows, you may find life looks more interesting again. Regular monthly trips and coffee mornings are organised by the service manager. Outings include visits to a garden centre or local places of interest.

Wider social networks

If you have lived alone for many years, you may also find your confidence returns as your volunteer helps you get out and about in your local community.

About our volunteers

We take on volunteers only after thorough checks and references so you can be completely assured
that they will be reliable and treat you with dignity and respect.

  • We carefully match you with a volunteer based on shared interests, likes, dislikes and beliefs
  • We regularly check to see how your friendship is progressing
  • As long as they are able to, your specific volunteer will always be the one to visit you
  • All our volunteers are given training that covers age-related concerns, which helps to build their knowledge and empathy.
